Nominations Requested for Drue Lane Webster Volunteer Service Award

For the past 23 years, the scenario has always been the same at the JLSL Annual Meeting in May; a hush comes over the room as we wait to hear the recipients of that year’s Drue Lane Webster Volunteer Service Award. The honorees are overwhelmed and the crowd is always amazed at their accomplishments. One thing is always constant- the women chosen are selfless, have a caring attitude, a tremendous love of volunteering and always deny they are worthy of the award.

Since 1985, over 37 women have been honored. The award was established by the JLSL in response to a contribution given by the honorable William H. Webster in memory of his wife, Drue. Each year recipients are chosen that exemplify Drue’s balanced, selfless style of voluntarism and for services in the Junior League and the community. In addition to receiving the award, the recipient(s) will select a community organization(s) to receive a $500. contribution in her name. The award represents the highest recognition a JLSL member can receive from her fellow JLSL members!!

YOU KNOW HER; she is sitting right next to you……. She may be quiet and unassuming but she is always ready to say “yes” to not just the big jobs but the small day to day things that many of us take for granted. She is helping in the community, giving a hand to mail a Leagueletter; she is pitching in at the last minute to usher for Family Theatre or just giving you a friendly smile at a membership meeting. So, NOMINATE that person that might have made a difference in your life as a volunteer.
