Are you looking for a way to meet new friends and give back to the community? Junior League of St. Louis (JLSL) might be a great fit for you! Our members join JLSL for a variety of reasons, but we stay because we believe that we make an impact. Through volunteer projects, fundraising events and social activities, we get hands-on experience building leadership skills and friendships while improving the community.
The deadline to join the 2019-20 Provisional Class is July 31, 2019.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I join JLSL at any time?
The Junior League year runs like a school year, so new members join in late spring and summer and begin their Provisional year in August. If you missed the cut off but are still interested in joining, please contact email@example.com. We will send you a reminder of upcoming recruitment events and the registration deadline for the coming year.
I can’t attend one of the recruitment events – can I still join?
Of course! If you are unable to attend one of our events, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or complete the application and contract (coming soon) to get your JLSL journey started!
What do you need from me to register as a new member?
Just a few things. You will need to complete a membership application form with your contact information. All new members must also pay a new member fee to help cover training materials; this fee varies each year, but you can expect to pay approximately $100. We never want financial concerns to keep a woman from joining League, so assistance is available.
When will I find out if I got into JLSL?
If you have submitted your membership application, you’re in! You’ll be notified of the date of your first provisional class meeting, usually mid-August.
What can I expect in my first year at JLSL?
You will be divided into a small group of new members (usually about 10), each with an advisor who will walk you through your first year. The full Provisional class will meet several times throughout the year so you’ll have the chance to get to know other women in your class.
Together, you’ll participate in a sampling of the many activities Junior League offers, such as Community Impact projects, training workshops, fundraising events, meetings and social activities. In the spring, your class will organize your own volunteer project centered on our Day 366 infant mortality initiative.
On average, you can expect to have one meeting or activity each month (though many members have so much fun they choose to do more!).
I’m interested in joining, but I’m worried my work/personal life will be crazy this year. How flexible is JLSL?
Very flexible. While every member is required to complete a certain number of activities (see our membership requirements), there are many opportunities to choose from to fit even the busiest schedule. We also understand that life happens, and can always work with members to find alternative activities to help you fulfill your requirement.
