2017 Nonprofit Organization of the Year

On Tuesday, Sept. 19, the Junior League of St. Louis attended the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of St. Louis (YNPN St. Louis) Standing Ovation Awards. The 2017 YNPN St. Louis Standing Ovation Awards recognize emerging thought leaders in the St. Louis nonprofit sector. This event recognizes men and women who are inspired and engaged leaders and who are creating positive social change in our community. Additionally, one organization is highlighted for its contributions in developing the next generation of nonprofit leaders.

The Junior League was awarded Nonprofit of the Year for our contributions to developing our members by providing a Leadership Training series with topics ranging from Strategic Planning to Setting and Achieving Goals to Board Leadership Skills. A mentorship program has recently developed offering the opportunity for young JLSL members to be paired with a seasoned member mentor to coach them not only in using Junior League opportunities to advance in their interests but how to attain the skills to move forward in their career paths.

Additionally, the JLSL provides information to our members from agencies seeking Board members. “Through networking and developing partnerships, members are able to learn about and become more involved in organizations of interest to them, says Carrie Crompton, President-Elect. Through this, we believe that we are able to provide skilled volunteers to improve the community.” Internally, leadership Board opportunities are available within League and young professionals are encouraged through current/past leaders and/or mentors to explore these opportunities for growth.

The JLSL is humbled by this award and proud to help cultivate the next generation of St. Louis nonprofit leaders. YNPN St. Louis connects and cultivates the next generation of nonprofit leaders.
